About The Artist:
Fayral and Guerbe were 2 pseudonyms used by the famous Pierre Le Faguays as they were both the family names of his Mother and his Wife. Pierre Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France and became famous for the originality he gave his dancers, many of which were inspired by the statues of Tanagra. Like Chiparus, Faguays’ sculptures did a great deal for perpetuating the 1920s version of the ideal female form – all lithe athleticism with nymph like physiques. He gained a medal of honour for his work in 1927. He was a best friend of Max Le Verrier and the Le Verrier foundry made most of – if not all of his pieces. For collectors original works by Faguays command high fees and his work really embodies the 1920s aesthetic.
