$1,470.00 price_excluding_tax

Frederic Sackrider Remington was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor and writer, who specialized in depictions of the old American West. He was the inventor of the ‘cowboy sculpture’. From his inaugural piece, The Broncho Buster (1895), he created an art form, which is still highly popular. Copyright law no longer covers Remington’s works, so reproductions can legally be cast. As a result of that, life-size reproductions of the famous Bronco Buster can now be seen in many places. The Cowboy in Philadelphia is the artist’s only large bronze.

Remington immortalized an original American type in his only heroic bronze, “The Cowboy”. Frederic Remington’s c1908 life-sized bronze statue of a cowboy on a horse on the edge of a cliff. It was commissioned by Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park Art Association, after the artist was declared “a national treasure” it was the only outdoor public work Remington ever produced. Remington had insisted on its location, which adds meaning to seeing it in person.

Color Choices – We usually cast and finish many of our sculptures with what is referred as multi-color patina. Our bronze sculpture selection may also be customized in a number of fire-applied patinas, such as classic French Brown, Verdigris, Italian Green as well as Gold and other custom finish options. Bronze is a durable material that can withstand the test of time, making it a popular choice for sculptures that can last for centuries. All bronze statuary will develop a natural patina when left in nature’s elements. The aged patina on bronzes is often desired, but if not, can be prevented by care and cleaning of the bronze statue with a mild soap and water and by applying beeswax or other polish to prevent an aged patina from forming. Color selection is more a matter of customer preference. Free shipping on all sculptures.
