Panhandler, Finest US Lost Wax Bronze Statue Sculpture by Weiss – Large

This classical Panhandler Sculpture by Weiss depicts a desperate young woman holding a pan for begging for money in public places. This work of art elicits an emotional response of sympathy. It is a great way to start conversations because it can bring together humanity. In this work of art the viewer can be reminded of  some of the ways that humble people have had to ask for help from others in the past.

This statue is cast in the finest American bronze using the superior lost wax method, finished in a multi-color patina and mounted on a black marble base with an etched brass plate that bears the name of the statue and the artist. Marble base on all statues is optional but included, please let us know if you don’t want your statue mounted on a marble base.

Color Choices – The standard way we cast and finish many of our sculptures is with what we refer to as multi-color patina. However, we can also make the entire sculpture classic statuary green (verdigris) or brown for a more traditional look. Both patinas are very nice and weather the same. Color selection is more a matter of customer preference.

About the artist:

Felix Weiss de Weldon was considered in his day to be  ‘the Michelangelo of American sculpture’. Quite an appellation. On a journey to Rome he was inspired by this immortal sculptor.

A remarkably famous sculptor in the 1930s and beyond, he was commissioned to sculpt many famous figures of the period by governments, presidents, royalty, artists and religious leaders. He would only sculpt figures he considered outstanding in their fields. He created more than 1,200 public monuments including the famous sculpture of the Iwo Jima memorial. De Weldon made sculptures from life of three of the six men raising the American flag. The other three, who had died in action later, were sculpted from photographs. De Weldon took nine years to make the memorial, and was assisted by hundreds of other sculptors. He is the only artist in the world with a masterpiece on all seven continents.
